Take a look on how I got started
My media career took off in college. Entering Fairleigh Dickinson University, I immediately dove into the radio and newspaper club. By my sophomore year, I had the incredible opportunity to further explore my passion by interning at WNJI LP 95.9FM, a gospel radio station. As a board operator, I learned the intricacies of radio production, ensuring smooth broadcasts and helping bring captivating content to the airwaves. This internship allowed me to witness firsthand the magic behind the scenes in the world of radio. By my senior year, I had grown not only as a broadcaster but also as a leader. I was honored to serve as the President of my college radio station, where I had the privilege of working with a talented team of individuals who shared my enthusiasm for broadcasting. Together, we crafted the school's social media page, collaborated with various clubs, and organized fundraisers for the station.
After graduating, I united with my classmates to create "What You Expect," a dynamic media platform dedicated to entertainment, news, and sports. As one of the driving forces behind this project, I not only conceptualized and brought the website to life but also lent a hand in our social media presence, connecting with our audience personally. Additionally, I conducted insightful interviews, providing a unique perspective on my guest's talents. Beyond content creation, I'm proud of our community-focused initiative, "Drops for Newark," where we rallied support during the city's water drought crisis, showcasing the power of media for meaningful change.
My journey has been marked by captivating moments, such as working the red carpet at the BET Soul Train Awards, where I engaged with prominent media personalities and gained invaluable insights into the industry. My thirst for knowledge led me to Rutgers University, where I pursued a master's in Digital Media Communications, further honing my skills and understanding of the digital landscape. I believe in the power of media to amplify voices, which is why I volunteered in my community, hosting a podcast that celebrates the rich tapestry of family stories. The following year, I harnessed the visual power of graphic design to raise awareness about mental health—an issue close to my heart.
In the ever-evolving world of media, meeting people has consistently stood out to me as the most vital and rewarding aspect. In 2019, I attended a town hall at SiriusXM that discussed the 1619 project developed by Nikole Hannah-Jones. Not only did I receive advice from her, but I spoke to journalist Trymaine Lee about the significance of the field. In 2022, I was gifted with the opportunity to witness the recording of the podcast B-Inspired, hosted by New Jersey Radio Hall of Famer Bert Baron, and Talk Show Host Lisa Anderson. I absorbed knowledge in conducting an interview and producing a show. Currently, I am a producer for the show Fox & Friends First, surrounded by some of the most brilliant people in the business. My goal is to be a journalist in front of a camera. I know that objective will come due to my passion for this field.
